Continuing a fascination with seafood (see Dinner at Eight), I found these green lipped mussels at the Asian market. Such gorgeous colors and patterns. I had hoped to paint them from life the next day (after of course eating the mussels), but the beautiful surface began to peel off as soon as the shells dried. Next time I'll try to keep them wet, coat them in oil, or paint them before I boil them?
